Definition: The reversibly oxidized form of ascorbic acid. It is the lactone of 2,3-DIKETOGULONIC ACID and has antiscorbutic activity in man on oral ingestion.  deficiency: coordinate DEHYDROASCORBIC ACID/defic (IM) with ASCORBIC ACID DEFICIENCY (IM)
