Haptoglobins

Definition: Plasma glycoproteins that form a stable complex with hemoglobin to aid the recycling of heme iron. They are encoded in man by a gene on the short arm of chromosome 16.  alpha-globulins; acute phase proteins    Other names Haptoglobin
