Hyperaldosteronism

Definition: A condition caused by the overproduction of ALDOSTERONE. It is characterized by sodium retention and potassium excretion with resultant HYPERTENSION and HYPOKALEMIA.  do not confuse with HYPOALDOSTERONISM; do not confuse X ref CONN SYNDROME with CONN DISEASE see ADRENOCORTICAL ADENOMA
