More information in Books or onNLM PubMed
Definition: An autolytic enzyme bound to the surface of bacterial cell walls. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of the link between N-acetylmuramoyl residues and L-amino acid residues in certain cell wall glycopeptides, particularly peptidoglycan. EC 3.5.1.28.      Other names Mucopeptide Amidohydrolase; N Acetylmuramoyl L alanine Amidase; Lysozyme, T7; LE Enzyme; Hydrolase, Peptidoglycan; Hydrolase, Murein; Endolysin, T7; Amidohydrolase, Mucopeptide; Amidase, N-Acetylmuramoyl-L-alanine; T7 Lysozyme; T7 Endolysin; Peptidoglycan Hydrolase; Murein Hydrolase; LE-Enzyme; Autolysin
