Plasminogen

More information in Books or onNLM PubMed
Definition: Precursor of plasmin (FIBRINOLYSIN). It is a single-chain beta-globulin of molecular weight 80-90,000 found mostly in association with fibrinogen in plasma; plasminogen activators change it to fibrinolysin. It is used in wound debriding and has been investigated as a thrombolytic agent.  an enzyme precursor & fibrinolytic agent; /antag: do not confuse with PLASMINOGEN INACTIVATORS which modulate PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATORS, not PLASMINOGEN
Pharmacological Action Fibrinolytic Agents
Examples Angiostatins
Other names Profibrinolysin; Plasminogen, Glutamyl; Glutamic Acid 1 Plasminogen; Glu Plasminogen; 1-Plasminogen, Glutamic Acid; Glutamyl Plasminogen; Glutamic Acid 1-Plasminogen; Glu-Plasminogen
