Platelet Activating Factor

Definition: A phospholipid derivative formed by PLATELETS; BASOPHILS; NEUTROPHILS; MONOCYTES; and MACROPHAGES. It is a potent platelet aggregating agent and inducer of systemic anaphylactic symptoms, including HYPOTENSION; THROMBOCYTOPENIA; NEUTROPENIA; and BRONCHOCONSTRICTION.      Other names Phosphorylcholine, Acetyl Glyceryl Ether; PAF-Acether; Acetyl Glyceryl Ether Phosphorylcholine; AGEPC; Platelet Activating Substance; PAF Acether; Factor, Platelet Activating; Aggregating Factor, Platelet; 1 Alkyl 2 acetyl sn glycerophosphocholine; Thrombocyte Aggregating Activity; Platelet-Activating Substance; Platelet Aggregation Enhancing Factor; Platelet Aggregating Factor; 1-Alkyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycerophosphocholine
