Radiation-Protective Agents

Definition: Drugs used to protect against ionizing radiation. They are usually of interest for use in radiation therapy but have been considered for other, e.g. military, purposes.  SUNSCREENING AGENTS is also available; use RADIATION PROTECTION for shielding from diagnostic x-rays; note entry term RADIATION-PROTECTIVE EFFECT: use only for the radiation protective effect of a chemical substance
