Potyvirus

Definition: A large genus of plant viruses of the family POTYVIRIDAE which infect mainly plants of the Solanaceae. Transmission is primarily by aphids in a non-persistent manner. The type species is potato virus Y.  a genus of mosaic viruses; from POTato virus Y (Y is one of a series, e.g., A, M, S, V, etc.); coord IM with specific plant /virol (IM or NIM)
