Definition: A species of the genus PARVOVIRUS and a host range variant of FELINE PANLEUKOPENIA VIRUS. It causes a highly infectious fulminating ENTERITIS in dogs producing high mortality. It is distinct from CANINE MINUTE VIRUS, a species in the genus BOCAVIRUS. This virus can also infect cats and mink.  infection: coordinate IM with PARVOVIRIDAE INFECTIONS (IM); do not confuse with CANINE MINUTE VIRUS; infection in cats: coordinate IM with FELINE PANLEUKOPENIA (IM); infection in mink: coordinate IM with MINK VIRAL ENTERITIS (IM)    Other names Canine parvovirus; Parvoviruses, Canine; Canine Parvoviruses
