More information in Books or onNLM PubMed
Definition: Leukocyte differentiation antigens and major platelet membrane glycoproteins present on MONOCYTES; ENDOTHELIAL CELLS; PLATELETS; and mammary EPITHELIAL CELLS. They play major roles in CELL ADHESION; SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION; and regulation of angiogenesis. CD36 is a receptor for THROMBOSPONDINS and can act as a scavenger receptor that recognizes and transports oxidized LIPOPROTEINS and FATTY ACIDS.      Other names Receptor, Thrombospondin; Platelet Glycoprotein, GPIV; Platelet Glycoprotein, GPIIIb; Glycoprotein IV, Platelet; Glycoprotein IIIb, Platelet; Antigen, OKM5; Antigen, CD36; Thrombospondin Receptor; SR-BI Receptor; SR-BI Protein; Platelet Membrane Glycoprotein IV; Platelet Glycoprotein IIIb; GPIV Platelet Glycoprotein; GPIIIb Platelet Glycoprotein; FAT (Fatty Acid Translocase) - CD36 Antigen; CD36 Protein; CD36 Fatty Acid Transporter; CD36 Antigen (Collagen Type I Receptor, Thrombospo; CD36 Antigen; Adipocyte Membrane Protein p88
