Retinol-Binding Proteins, Plasma

Definition: Retinol binding proteins that circulate in the PLASMA. They are members of the lipocalin family of proteins and play a role in the transport of RETINOL from the LIVER to the peripheral tissues. The proteins are usually found in association with TRANSTHYRETIN.  RETINOL-BINDING PROTEINS and RETINOL-BINDING PROTEINS, CELLULAR are also available; do not interpret the presence of retinol binding proteins in the blood as RETINOL-BINDING PROTEINS, PLASMA; check text for appropriate term    Other names Retinol Binding Proteins, Plasma; Plasma Retinol Binding Proteins; Plasma Retinol-Binding Proteins
