Definition: Situations or conditions requiring immediate intervention to avoid serious adverse results.  EMERGENCY MEDICINE is the corresponding specialty; emergencies in specific diseases: coordinate NIM with specific disease (IM); "drug emergencies": coordinate NIM with specific drug or chemical with probably /pois (IM)
