Definition: Slender processes of NEURONS, including the AXONS and their glial envelopes (MYELIN SHEATH). Nerve fibers conduct nerve impulses to and from the central nervous system.  do not confuse X ref MOSSY FIBERS, CEREBELLAR with MOSSY FIBERS, HIPPOCAMPAL
