Pyrococcus

Definition: A genus of strictly anaerobic ultrathermophilic archaea, in the family THERMOCOCCACEAE, occurring in heated seawaters. They exhibit heterotrophic growth at an optimum temperature of 100 degrees C.  a genus of archaea found in heated seawaters; THERMOCOCCUS, found in heated seawater, is also available
