Definition: The fibrous tissue that replaces normal tissue during the process of WOUND HEALING.  CICATRIX, HYPERTROPHIC is also available; do not confuse entry term SCARRING with scarification (scratching open the surface of the skin purposely for VACCINATION; BODY MODIFICATION, NON-THERAPEUTIC; etc.)
