Definition: A cyclic endoperoxide intermediate produced by the action of CYCLOOXYGENASE on ARACHIDONIC ACID. It is further converted by a series of specific enzymes to the series 2 prostaglandins.  /analogs: coord with PROSTAGLANDIN ENDOPEROXIDES, SYNTHETIC if pertinent
