Definition: An ATP-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the addition of ADP to alpha-D-glucose 1-phosphate to form ADP-glucose and diphosphate. The reaction is the rate-limiting reaction in prokaryotic GLYCOGEN and plant STARCH biosynthesis.      Other names Synthetase, ADPG; Synthetase, ADP-Glucose; Synthase, ADP-Glucose; Pyrophosphorylase, Adenosine Diphosphoglucose; Pyrophosphorylase, ADPGlucose; Pyrophosphorylase, ADP-Glucose; Glucose 1 Phosphate Adenylyltransferase; Diphosphoglucose Pyrophosphorylase, Adenosine; Adenylyltransferase, Glucose-1-Phosphate; ADP Glucose Synthetase; ADP Glucose Synthase; ADP Glucose Pyrophosphorylase; Adenosine Diphosphoglucose Pyrophosphorylase; Adenosine Diphosphate Glucose Pyrophosphorylase; ADPGlucose Pyrophosphorylase; ADPG Synthetase; ADP-Glucose Synthetase; ADP-Glucose Synthase; ADP-Glucose Pyrophosphorylase
