Definition: A zinc-containing enzyme which oxidizes primary and secondary alcohols or hemiacetals in the presence of NAD. In alcoholic fermentation, it catalyzes the final step of reducing an aldehyde to an alcohol in the presence of NADH and hydrogen.  a specific enzyme; do not confuse with ALCOHOL OXIDOREDUCTASES    Other names Oxidoreductase, Alcohol-NAD+; Dehydrogenase, Yeast Alcohol; Dehydrogenase, Alcohol; Alcohol NAD+ Oxidoreductase; Alcohol Dehydrogenase, Yeast; Yeast Alcohol Dehydrogenase; Alcohol-NAD+ Oxidoreductase; Alcohol Dehydrogenase II; Alcohol Dehydrogenase I; Alcohol Dehydrogenase (NAD+)
