Psychosine

Definition: An intermediate in the biosynthesis of cerebrosides. It is formed by reaction of sphingosine with UDP-galactose and then itself reacts with fatty acid-Coenzyme A to form the cerebroside.      Other names Sphingosine Galactoside; Galactosylsphingosine; Galactoside, Sphingosine
