Cytochrome P-450 CYP2E1

Definition: An ethanol-inducible cytochrome P450 enzyme that metabolizes several precarcinogens, drugs, and solvents to reactive metabolites. Substrates include alcohol; NITROSAMINES; BENZENE; URETHANE; and other low molecular weight compounds.
