Definition: Venoms from SNAKES of the viperid family. They tend to be less toxic than elapid or hydrophid venoms and act mainly on the vascular system, interfering with coagulation and capillary membrane integrity and are highly cytotoxic. They contain large amounts of several enzymes, other factors, and some toxins.  /antag permitted but consider also ANTIVENINS; /enzymol permitted; includes adder venoms & viperotoxin; TN 241: common & scientific names of various viperids; note PIT VIPER VENOMS see CROTALID VENOMS
Examples Crotalid Venoms
Other names Venoms, Viper; Venoms, Cerastes; Venom, Viper; Venom, Cerastes; Viperotoxin; Viper Venom; Egyptian Sand Viper Venom; Cerastes Venoms; Cerastes Venom
